Jan 27, 2008 - Parish Consensus has been modified to include the building of a parish community center at the Thomasville school location as a stepping-stone to the ultimate goal of building at Taxville Road.
Nine committees have been reactivated to work on various components of the project. Many volunteers are still needed! Please contact Dennis LaHood at 873-5965 to see how your skills can best be matched to our tasks.
Stay tuned to this section of the bulletin for more updates and check the Cornerstone display boards around the church for further information.
You have undoubtedly been hearing a lot lately about our Parish Consensus, but you may not know what that consensus is. In order for you to have a fuller understanding of our Parish Dream, the consensus is provided, in its entirety, below:
The following Consensus was arrived at by the St. Rose of Lima Parish Community at the workshop meetings held in October, 2004 and January, 2005. The implementation of the Consensus is conditioned upon the approval of Bishop Rhoades and the College of Consultors:
To provide funds for buying the Taxville Road site
To build a new Church with offices and ancillary facilities of approximately 28,000 square feet at Taxville Road
To build a Parish Center connected to the church at Taxville of approximately 7,000 square feet including a hall, flexible wall classrooms, meeting rooms, kitchen facilities and Religious Ed spaces
To provide funding for Sisters and Clergy residences either on or off site
To build new educational facilities at the Taxville Road site that are to be combined with the parish center and would include an indoor, Jr. High basketball gymnasium
To provide appropriate maintenance for existing facilities including the Church and Thomasville School during the period prior to full site development
To agree that if funding shortfalls or other problems make it impossible to develop the entire project at one time, the Parish will come together again to meet, discuss and arrive at a new consensus. |
